Social Engineering: Understand the Risks and Learn How to Help Protect Your Organization

Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook. YouTube, Pinterest…the list of social media apps and sites seemingly grows longer every day.  Yet while social media becomes more ubiquitous, and the information in our profiles increases, so does the potential for criminals to do more harm. As social engineering attacks become increasingly targeted and sophisticated, organizations need to be especially vigilant and creative in their efforts to thwart hackers in their tracks. The discussion will focus on emerging schemes and some strategies you can take to protect yourself against social engineering attacks as well as internal fraud and corporate espionage.

Keynote Speaker:

Ed Rosenberg

Vice President & Chief Security Officer, BMO Financial Group

Ed Rosenberg has more than 25 years of experience focusing on operational risk matters (including fraud, security, audit and complex litigation) for public and private companies, governments and law enforcement agencies, specializing in financial institutions in North America, Europe and the Caribbean. He has significant experience in working with boards of directors and regulators in multiple jurisdictions.

As the Chief Security Officer for the Bank of Montreal, Mr. Rosenberg is accountable for BMO’s management of Criminal Risk and responsible for leading BMO’s corporate security operations. This includes internal and external investigations, physical security and fraud risk management (prevention, detection, response and reporting), ensuring the protection of BMO employees, customers, assets and information from Criminal Risk across BMO’s operations.
