Forging New Frontiers: A Review of Emerging Models in Government Financing 

The presentation will include a range of different government financing options which have been successfully used in Canada and similar jurisdictions such as the U.K. It will cover procurement and financing models such as Public Private Partnerships, Joint Ventures, and Social Enterprises.

Keynote Speakers:

Peter Birkbeck

Managing Director, Consulting & Deals, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

Peter Birkbeck is a Managing Director in the Deals practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC). Mr. Birkbeck leads PwC’s Infrastructure and Project Finance practice in the National Capital Region focusing on working with clients to develop innovative practices to finance and procure capital intensive solutions. Having spent 15 years in the U.K., Mr. Birkbeck brings connectivity to the U.K. PFI/PPP regime. He recently completed a comparative study for PPP Canada which looked at the lessons learned from this program and their applicability to Canada. 

Tyler Nash

Assistant Vice-President, Consulting & Deals, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

Tyler Nash is an Assistant Vice-President in the Deals practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) where he provides strategic advice to public and private sector clients through divestiture, M&A, capital raising, and public-private-partnership transactions. Mr. Nash has advised clients across a number of sectors on the analysis and development of innovate financing solutions. He was recently involved in the New Bridge over the Saint Lawrence project.
