Supply Chain finance is a term used describe many types of finance, ranging from factoring and receivables, inventory & Inventory in transit to payables financing.  While these financing typologies have been in existence for many years, there are new trends that connect EIPP ( electronic invoice presentment and payment) to automated disbursement methods that service that age old divide between a seller’s desire to reduce DSOs and a buyer’s desire to increase DPOs.  The presentation will review some of the mechanics of supply chain finance combined with a review of some of the new trends that are beginning to gain market share in North America.

Speaker:  John McPherson, Senior Advisory, Trade Advisory Services

John McPherson joined the corporation in 2005 and is currently the Senior Advisor for EDC’sTrade Advisory Service. In this role, he advises a team that focuses on delivering knowledge and advise regarding Global Trade and Supply Chain Management to both internal and external clients.  His primary focus is to understand the evolving business practices employed in global value chains that lower business risks, accelerates cash flow and leverages technology to create efficient, integrated trading relationships and opportunities. 

Recognized for leadership and innovation, Mr. McPherson brings over thirty years of experience, successfully engaging technical and management challenges in the information technology,  business services and logistics sectors.  He has held senior management roles responsible for Business Development, Engineering and Operations. 

Mr. McPherson is actively engaged in promoting the development of supply chain excellence in Canada. He has sat on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Supply Chains Sector Council (CSCSC), is a subject matter expert for the Forum for International Trade Training  ( FITT), is a published author of Global Supply Chain Management; a text used in many Canadian post secondary supply chain programs and sits on the Financial Supply Chain committee of the Banker’s Association for Finance & Trade.
