Topics they will present will include their insights on the current and future state of Canada’s retirement system and potential approaches to managing risk and enhancing benefit security and return.


Biographies

Frank Belvedere, CFA, F.C.I.A., Partner - Mercer (Canada) Ltd.  

Frank Belvedere is a Partner with Mercer (Canada) Ltd., providing advice on a broad range of investment issues to institutional clients including public and private pension funds, family offices, endowments and foundations and sovereign wealth funds.

With over 30 years of experience his career has included actuarial practice, investment management and consulting. He currently heads Mercer’s Canadian endowment and foundation consulting practice.

Frank has deep experience, both as a practicing pension actuary in Canada, and as an investment consultant advising sophisticated pension and endowment clients on investment policy, risk management and risk-offloading solutions using state-of-the-art asset liability modeling and other tools and processes. He is one of the first consultants in Canada to work with clients on combining alternative and traditional asset classes as well as liability driven investment and de-risking strategies.

He has served on the Canadian Institute of Actuaries’ Committee on Pension Plan Financial Reporting, and lectured at Concordia University in Montreal on various investment topics. He has advised Concordia’s John Molson School of Business as a member of the client committee of the Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program, since its inception in 2000. He has served as a board member and chairman of educational institutions’ foundations, authored various investment articles and presented at a variety of investment conferences.

Frank is a native of Montreal, Canada where he attended McGill University, receiving a Bachelor of Science, major in mathematics. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and has attained the CFA designation. 

 

Diane Alalouf, Principal - Mercer (Canada) Ltd.  

Diane Alalouf the Market Business Leader for Mercer Investments for Eastern Canada, and Chief Operating Officer for Canada.

Diane joined Mercer Investment Consulting (UK) in 1997. She became the Head of Technical Products and Services in Mercer Investment Consulting (UK) in 1998. She has been working for Mercer Investments in Canada since 2003. Prior to joining Mercer Diane worked for an actuarial consultancy in London, England for four years.

Diane has a BSc in Statistics and Computer Science from Concordia University. She graduated in 1992.
